ISO stands for the International Organization for Standardization
ISO 14001:2015 lists the requirements for an environmental management system that an organization can use to improve its environmental performance. ISO 14001:2015 is for organizations that want to manage their environmental responsibilities in a way that helps with the environmental pillar of sustainability.
ISO 14001:2015 helps an organization reach the goals of its environmental management system, which are good for the environment, the organization, and other people who care about the organization. In line with the organization’s environmental policy, an environmental management system is supposed to lead to:
◉ Improvement of how well the environment works;
◉ Compliance obligations being met;
◉ Achievement of environmental objectives.
ISO 14001:2015 can be used by any organization, no matter how big, small, or different it is. It can be used for the environmental aspects of an organization’s activities, products, and services that the organization decides it can control or change when looking at the whole life cycle. ISO 14001:2015 does not state specific environmental performance criteria.
ISO 14001:2015 can be used in whole or in part to make environmental management better in a planned way. Claims of conformity to ISO 14001:2015, on the other hand, are not valid unless an organization’s environmental management system meets all of its requirements.
